The Sansulas of India can take solace from the fact that they are not the only ones that are tossed around and left in the lurch after working hard promoting a foreign brand which later takes a competitor in its lap, with the Bordeaux First Growth Château Lafite which has been in news for the prices shooting up in auctions and retail, changing partner in China after seven years’ successful relationship.
The seven-year relationship between Domaines Barons de Rothschild, owners of Château Lafite and their Chinese distributor Summergate has ended. With effect from January 1 next year, their competitor and the biggest importer in China, ASC would be marketing their wines. (suite…)

ARCHITECTS FROM ALL OVER COVET BORDEAUX WINE MUSEUM

Architects from Milan, Buenos Aires, New York and Paris are all interested. There can be no doubt that Bordeaux’s Cité des civilisations du vin project has generated a passionate worldwide interest.
114 teams of architects and designers have taken up the challenge and become candidates in the competition launched in September by the City of Bordeaux.
The competition’s goal is to find the best design for the future Centre of Wine Culture to be built facing the Garonne north of the city centre. The teams represent 12 nationalities from Europe, America and Asia. (suite…) -
FRENCH DIPLOMAT EXPELLED FOR STEALING WINE

In a country like ours where new multi-million dollar scams are unearthed with unfailing regularity, the event might be laughed off by the bureaucrats but it did not take long for the French government to recall their Consul Général in Hong Kong and Macau, and the former second counselor at the French embassy in New Delhi, for stealing two (2) bottles of expensive wines at a private club in Hong Kong.
The top French diplomat in Hong Kong and Macau was suspended and recalled to Paris last week according to a report in AFP on Tuesday. Marc Fonbaustier, 46, France’s consul-general in the Chinese semi-autonomous territories, was forced to leave his job after Beijing apparently sought his removal just over a year after taking the top-ranking post.
